About This Event

With few exceptions every mile along the right-of-way of a planned pipeline the pipe will require a change in specifications and installation for crossing under one or more roads or railroads. The changes will vary according to prevailing industry standards, the specific requirements of a road authority or railroad owner and the site conditions of a crossing location.

Class exercises will cover the selection of pipe specifications and installation methods for a single or multiple crossings project. During the exercises the requirements of the US- DOT regulations*, ASME Codes and API RP 1102 for design of pipeline crossings will be addressed in the selection process together with the relative cost of feasible options. *(In Canada the Canadian Standards Association CSA Z662-07).
Pipelines buried in open country or under secondary paved or unpaved roads are subject to infrequent crossings by extra heavily loaded wheeled or tracked vehicles. Recognized methods for estimating the stresses on a buried line from these temporary crossings and steps that may reduce potential excessive stresses to within allowable limits will also be covered in class exercises.
The course is designed for:
Pipeline engineers and gas distribution engineers
Engineers, technicians, and service professionals involved with construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of liquids, gas, and
products pipelines.
Project managers with oversight for third party engineering or maintenance.
Project and facility managers concerned with system integrity and maintenance

Continental breakfast and lunch included.
